Corey Cunningham

Computer Science Student at Oregon State University

Greetings! I am a pharmacist in the midst of a career change with the goal of becoming a software developer. At the beginning of this year, I began studying computer science at Oregon State University after a few years of attempting to break into the tech industry without a degree (bootcamp, MOOCs, tutorials, etc). Learning to code has shown me that my true passion lies in using code to build applications that solve problems. Most of the code that I have written has been in Javascript or Python, but I've also had the opportunity to use Java, C, Ruby, Rocket, x86/Assembly and others.

  • Javascript
  • Python
  • Java
  • Node
  • React
  • Angular
  • Django
  • Flask
  • HTML/CSS

    Softare Development Micromasters

Learned the fundamentals of programming, modeling data, and algorithms using Racket, a functional programming language. Using Java, learned how to read and use software design patterns, implement and test object-oriented design, develop applications using online services and APIs, testing with JUnit, building larger software systems with abstraction and decomposition, and how to specify, implement, and test a data abstraction. Learned traditional and agile processes in software development including TDD and Scrum.

  • Coding Dojo

    Coding Bootcamp

Built several full-stack applications using both Python and Node.js and utilizing frameworks like Flask, Django, and the MEAN stack, Built applications that modeled, stored, and retrieved data using databases like MySQL, SQLite, and MongoDB. Designed user interfaces and static sites that employed custom CSS, HTML, and Javascript as well as front-end frameworks like Bootstrap. Put into practice industry standards like CRUD and RESTful Architecture. Wrote well-structured, readable, dry code. Used AWS to deploy Python-based and Node-based sites. Used GIT to keep track of changes, use multiple computers, and share code while developing
